When we talk about gold, we usually think of watches or jewelry made of the precious metal. However, if you are rich enough, you can afford almost anything made of gold. We have compiled a list of unusual items made of the yellow metal that break stereotypes and go beyond the conventional jewelry.
A shirt made of the precious metal
Indian investor Datta Phuge owns an unusual piece of clothing: a gold shirt weighing more than 3 kilograms and worth $240,000. 15 craftsmen worked on its creation for 16 days. The shirt was made from 14,000 pieces of 22K gold and decorated with Swarovski crystal buttons.
It cannot be washed, so one has to be careful not to get it dirty. Due to its impracticality, Phuge wears the shirt only on special occasions: parties or important events.

Exclusive gold grill
The most expensive BBQ grill of all time is the BeefEater Golden Grill. This grill is the epitome of luxury, with every inch of the exterior surface covered in 24K gold, except for the grill surface itself. At the same time, it is quite functional: you can cook a juicy steak or vegetables on it.
In 2007, the one-of-a-kind grill was handcrafted by an Australian company for the Sydney Home Show. At the time it was valued at $60,000, but a few years later its value rose to approximately $164,000.

Luxury vacuum cleaner for a millionaire
It’s hard to imagine paying more for appliances than people typically spend on a home. However, in 2012, GoVacuum proved the opposite by announcing the sale of a golden vacuum cleaner. Its price was $1 million.
The body of the device is made of metal and completely covered with 24K gold. The vacuum cleaner has a lifetime warranty and is fully functional, it weighs just over 7 kilograms. The manufacturer offers engraving with the buyer’s name, the name of the owner’s company or logo, to make it even more unique.

Golden decoration for the eyes
By creating gold contact lenses costing about $15,000 per pair, optometrist, ophthalmologist and eye scientist Chandrashekhar Chawan proves that fashion has no limits. The doctor assures that such “decoration” is completely safe for health, since the precious metal does not touch the sensitive tissues of the eye thanks to the special coating.
The lenses are made using 24K gold in a special paste form, and their weight is about 5 grams. Those who, for some reason, aren’t satisfied with the sparkle of the precious metal have the opportunity to choose lenses complemented with a scattering of diamonds.

Armchair for the ruler of the world
French design company Harrow has created a skull-shaped chair made from 24K gold worth $500,000. This piece of furniture is handmade in Paris and is perfect for those who want to feel like the ruler of the world.
The chair is made of reinforced fiberglass, and the internal frame is made of steel. Its body is covered in gold, which contrasts beautifully with the black velvet upholstery. The seat has a multi-faceted backrest, reminiscent of a huge skull, and two ornate front legs.
